Chrystyna Skovira Kestler is the President of the Joseph J. Theinert Memorial Fund, President of the American Gold Star Mothers’ North Fork Chapter 61 located on Long Island, and a Vice President of the Department of New York American Gold Star Mothers.
By continuing her son 1LT Joe Theinert’s mission of caring for his men and their families, Chrys finds great joy and comfort. She often volunteers for the Northport VA Hospital, and collaborates with the American Legion Mitchell Post 281, the 10th Mountain Division Association, and 9-1-1 Veterans to organize welcome home events for deployed soldiers and events for military members and families.
In 2012 Chrys was awarded the Department of the Army’s Outstanding Civilian Service Medal by Major General Mark Milley, Commanding General, 10th Mountain Division (LI) and was named Volunteer of the Year by Fort Drum, home of the 10th Mountain Division.
Chrys has been a registered professional nurse in hospitals and private practice and a manager of three different health care businesses.
Chrys and her husband United States Army Reserve Colonel Frank Kestler, DDS are proud grandparents of Brooke and parents of Jackie, Billy, Frankie, Jimbo, Nick and of course, Joe.
